Overcome Gynecomastia and Contour a Masculine Chest
Does your chest still look puffy or soft, regardless of your diet or time spent on the bench press? Do you feel self-conscious about the nipples looking puffy or protruding out of shirts? This is extremely common—up to 70% of men of all ages have this excess breast gland tissue, known as gynecomastia, or “gyno”. Though it’s usually a natural, benign enlargement of the gland, it still causes discomfort, pain, and an undesirable appearance.
This can be very frustrating since you can do nothing to make it disappear. You’ve probably already done every pec exercise variation to try and grow the muscle so that the gland is less obvious, right? You’ve probably also seen that it doesn’t change with your diet or age; it’s just there.
Thankfully, we now have much better solutions for this issue than were available to our dads and grandfathers. Back in the day, the choices were to either live with it or get extensive surgery in the hospital under general anesthesia with a visible scar. Neither one sounds at all appealing. However, now we’re able to get rid of the gland with a short procedure that we do in our clinic, without general anesthesia, with a fast recovery, and with a minimal scar!
Wouldn’t it be nice to take off your shirt whenever you want and not worry about how your chest looks? We are one of the most sought-after gynecomastia correction centers in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the surrounding areas of Gilbert, Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa. Call us today at (480) 256-8018 to book your consultation!

Some Basics: What Is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is a common condition of enlarged or overdeveloped breast glands in men that can occur at any age. If you didn’t already know, yes, men have breast glands, just like women do, except that in men, they’re supposed to stay small. Unfortunately, all too often, they still grow enough to become visible and prominent. In addition, if you’re heavier than ideal, the extra fat in the chest can exaggerate the breast-like appearance. Certain medications, anabolic steroids, and high levels of testosterone, or TRT, can also create this breast gland growth.
The most common problem that this extra gland causes is an undesirable appearance, causing the chest to look more breast-like instead of flat and defined. However, many men also feel discomfort with compression shirts or pain when the area is hit, like with a bench press, etc.
Gynecomastia Correction: Is It Worth It?
The overwhelming majority of men who correct their gynecomastia tell us that not only is it worth doing, but they just wish they’d done it earlier. We can remove the extra gland tissue and any excess fat obscuring your pec contours, all at the same time. The chest is then flat, sculpted and looks totally natural. On average, final results may take up to 6 months to achieve in heavier patients, and we do a lot of liposuction to sculpt the chest. In patients that have mostly gland excess, the result is evident within a couple of days. According to a clinical study evaluating the success rate of gynecomastia surgery, 96% of patients were happy with their breast size. Additionally, 100% of patients were delighted by the reduction of excess chest skin after 6 months of surgery.
Our goal is that you will never again think twice about what you’re wearing or be afraid to take your shirt off.

How Does the Gynecomastia
Correction Procedure Work?
We couldn’t agree more about how you want to complete this and move on with your life. We do these procedures in our private, comfortable clinic, where you don’t get general anesthesia, you don’t get poked and prodded for IVs, and you don’t have to change into a cheap surgical gown. Your comfort is our priority; we provide oral sedation to take the edge off and numb everything up SUPER thoroughly, and then you can just hang out and crack jokes or listen to the daily playlist in the procedure room while we get your chest sculpted. All in all, this takes about 1-2 hours, and you go home right after! We have become so good at providing an effortless experience. that some of our patients even opt out of taking any medications for anxiety and stay sober to drive themselves home!
How is this possible? All through a tiny incision at the edge of the areola? Patience, practice, and total focus on you. We know how important this is to you and how important it is that everything looks perfect after you’re healed, so it is only natural that we dedicate the same amount of effort to ensuring you have a fantastic experience during the procedure itself.
How to Prepare for
Gynecomastia Surgery
Dr. Turin will provide pre-operative instructions to help ensure smooth gynecomastia surgery. Follow these instructions carefully to minimize your risk of complications. Here are some of the pre-operative instructions you’ll likely receive before surgery day:
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 48 hours before your procedure. Consuming alcohol and smoking can increase your risk of complications and unwanted side effects. They can also slow your body’s immune response, so your recovery takes longer.
- Don’t take blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least two weeks prior to surgery. These may include ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, garlic, and turmeric. Blood thinners can cause you to bleed more during and after surgery than you would otherwise.
- Take care of your body in the weeks leading up to your appointment. Eat nutritious food, exercise regularly, and get sufficient sleep. Going into surgery with a healthy body decreases your risk of complications. It can also make your recovery easier and faster. Arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and stay with you for at least 24 hours.
Don’t forget to wear loose, comfortable clothing to your surgery. Your treatment site will be quite sensitive, so you’ll be glad you wore something non-restrictive for the ride home.
Gynecomastia Surgery Recovery:
What to Expect
The recovery period after gynecomastia is usually between 4 and 6 weeks. However, each person is different, and your recovery may be shorter or longer than this. You’re more likely to have a smooth recovery if you carefully follow post-treatment guidelines. Plan on taking at least two weeks off from school or work to rest and heal if you do any manual/lifting. If you work from home or do desk/computer work, you can go back to work the very next day!!
In the weeks after gynecomastia treatment, it’s natural to experience uncomfortable symptoms. These typically include localized tenderness, bruising, and swelling. You’ll need to wear a compression garment as instructed to manage inflammation. We recommend applying ice packs periodically to alleviate swelling and discomfort. You may also take prescription pain medications to reduce post-operative pain.
You’ll need to change your dressings and bandages as Dr. Turin directs. This will help keep the treatment area clean and reduce your risk of infection. You should also plan to take it easy until Dr. Turin gives you the green light to resume normal daily activities. It’s wise to arrange for someone to help you with your daily chores for a few weeks after your procedure.
Monitoring Your Healing Process
It’s very important to monitor your healing process to ensure your body recovers as expected. Dr. Turin will help you schedule follow-up visits. It’s crucial to attend these visits as scheduled, even if you assume you’re healing just fine.
Dr. Turin may notice subtle indications of potential problems that you might overlook. Catching potential complications early on is essential. He can then address them before they become bigger issues.
If you experience concerning symptoms such as chest pains or shortness of breath after your procedure, take heed. These could indicate potentially life-threatening complications that warrant emergency medical attention.
How to Reduce Scarring After Gynecomastia Correction
If you’re concerned about the appearance of scars after gynecomastia, there are a few things you can do to make them less prominent. Some patients use scar-lightening creams and gels to minimize the appearance of scars. Wait until your incision sites have sufficiently healed before applying any topical cream or gel to the area.
You could also try professional scar-lightening treatments. Popular options include microneedling and laser therapy. These treatments can soften scar tissue and smooth the skin. You typically need to schedule a series of treatments to get the best results.
However, what we see in reality is that by 2-3 months out, our patients tell us the scars are pretty much not noticeable at a conversation distance when they have their shirts off at the pool or outdoors.
